Music
of Rameau and Eccles: Suite from Nais and Judgment of Paris
Scintillating
storm scenes, rollicking Rigaudons, swaggering contredances,
dreamy airs, majestic entrees for the Gods, and a battle between
Jupiter, Neptune, and Titan on Mount Olympus highlight this
program of brilliant Baroque orchestral music. This unforgettable
program of the exciting music features scenes from Rameau’s
operas together with a rare performance of one of Baroque
England’s greatest dramatic works, John Eccles’
Judgment of Paris, in which Juno, Pallas, and Venus
vie for the golden apple in a delightful beauty pageant set
to music as ravishing and sensuous as the goddesses themselves.
Celebrate with the gods at our musical banquet!
