The Gods’ Flute Heaven: Dutch and Spanish consort music after a 17th-century collection

In the mid-16th century, many European courts enriched their musical establishments by importing Dutch composers, singers, and instrumentalists. These Northerners popularized both their brand of sacred music as well as the Spanish chanson in their new homes. Performing on an astonishing array of recorders ranging from 8 inches to 8 feet, the 14 recorder players of The Royal Wind Music uncover a wealth of elaborately contrapuntal works that will surely lift you to heavenly heights.
