Andreas Scholl, one of the world’s most cherished countertenors, returns to BEMF, appearing with The English Concert led by Harry Bicket as they make their BEMF début in a program of Baroque gems that features songs and scenes by Henry Purcell. Founded in 1972, The English Concert and its gifted instrumentalists have built a reputation for invigorating performances full of polish and panache; Andreas Scholl is in the highest demand for his beautiful, unique and vivid tone and nuanced interpretations.
