The Field of the Cloth of Gold: Music of Jean Mouton and William Cornysh
Beloved vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars with Peter Phillips, director, make their 23rd annual appearance with BEMF! Pioneers in the performance of the glorious vocal music of the Renaissance, these singers continue to collect accolades for transcendent performances that are as intricately precise as they are expressively soulful. Their program is inspired by the splendor and majesty of an historic meeting of King Henry VIII of England and King François I of France in 1520. The most accomplished composers of both kingdoms, William Cornysh and Jean Mouton, arranged spectacular musical presentations to entertain and impress. Peter Phillips has selected some of the finest works by each gifted musician to honor this regal cultural exchange.
Free pre-concert talk at 7pm, featuring Director Peter Phillips, and Michael Noone, Chair, Music Department, Boston College
