CONCERTO PALATINO
directed by Bruce Dickey & Charles Toet
with James David Christie, organ

A Magnificent Noise: Music from Venice to Hamburg
For nearly two decades, Concerto Palatino has been leading the way in the revival of the cornetto and Baroque trombone, which combined to form a consort of rare and resonant beauty; as one 18th-century author described it, “a magnificent noise.” They will be joined by James David Christie of Wellesley College— performing on the extraordinary Houghton Chapel mean-tone organ—as they follow up their stunning 2005 Festival concert with a program that evokes the “magnificent noise” of the Baroque brass ensemble with intradas, sonatas, canzonas, dances, madrigals, and motets of 17th-century Europe.
Presented in collaboration with the Concert Series at Wellesley College.
Tickets to this concert are $20 each with unassigned seating; not available as part of a Sampler Subscription Package.
