Echoes of Saint Mark’s: Instrumental Music from the Musical Chapel of the Doge
For more than two decades, Concerto Palatino, under the direction of Bruce Dickey and Charles Toet, has been leading the way in the revival of the cornetto and Baroque trombone. The world’s leading historical brass ensemble, Concerto Palatino has revolutionized performance practices and ushered in a new generation of virtuoso cornetto and trombone players. For their return to the BEMF stage, they offer a program of masterpieces from the grand cathedral of Venice that echo through time with their brilliant use of color and the expressive potential of wind instruments. Be transported to the glorious basilica of St. Mark’s with splendid music by composers including Gabrieli, Palestrina, Grillo, Rovetta, and Massaino.
Bruce Dickey & Doron David Sherwin, cornetto; Veronika Skuplik & Julie Andrijeski, violin; Claire McIntyre, Greg Ingles, Charles Toet & Joost Swinkels, trombone; Liuwe Tamminga, organ
