BEMF Chamber Opera Series Gala Concert

Paul O’Dette & Stephen Stubbs, Musical Directors
Gilbert Blin, Stage Director

Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 3pm
New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, Boston

Celebrate five seasons of the BEMF Chamber Opera Series with a glorious concert of highlights featuring an all-star cast! Since 2008, the BEMF Chamber Opera Series productions on Thanksgiving weekend have become a “popular tradition among local early music fans” (The Boston Globe), and for this Gala Concert, Musical Directors Paul O’Dette and Stephen Stubbs along with Stage Director Gilbert Blin have crafted a program of their favorite selections from the seven operas that have been featured in the Chamber Opera Series, including Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Monteverdi’s Orfeo, Handel’s Acis and Galatea, Blow's Venus and Adonis, and Charpentier's Actéon, La descente d'Orphée aux enfers, and La Couronne de Fleurs.

Beloved audience favorites from past BEMF Opera productions return to form a vocal ensemble of truly unparalleled singers, and are joined by the internationally acclaimed instrumentalists of the BEMF Chamber Ensemble. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event you will not want to miss. With only one performance, tickets will go fast, so don’t delay securing your seats and joining in this extraordinary celebration!

Free pre-concert talk at 2pm with MIT Professor Ellen T. Harris.
