Handel: From England to Italy
The famed ensemble La Risonanza, a three-time winner of the Stanley Sadie Handel Recording Prize, leads a journey in reverse through the musical life of Handel. For their BEMF début, the musicians start with some of Handel’s most famous pieces from his time in England, including the cantata Mi palpita il cor and a trio sonata from Op. 2, before presenting some of the early Italian jewels of his youth. These compositions of the young Handel would be treasures the master would continue to draw upon for inspiration throughout his rich musical career.
